
Amirah Cunningham (American, b. 1996) is an interdisciplinary printmaker and visual artist based in Cleveland, OH. With a BFA in Drawing and Printmaking from The Cleveland Institute of Art and an MFA from Kent State University, her work explores the complexities of Black identity, history, and experience. Known for her use of pattern, and experimentation, Amirah brings a unique voice to the ongoing conversation about the Black body, mind, and lived experience. Her practice is deeply personal, drawing on her own experience as a Black woman in America, while also addressing broader themes of Black history, culture, and collective memory. Through her art, she creates space for Black voices, positioning herself within the political, historical, and educational landscape. Amirah's work has been showcased in prestigious exhibitions, including The International Print Center in New York City, and she continues to be an active force in amplifying narratives that center Black identities. She currently resides in Cleveland, OH, where she remains dedicated to her artistic practice and community engagement.
