BLCKED is a series investigating the concept of what it means to be “Black.” This series is a reflection of both a mental and emotional space, depicted as landscape using patterns. The series is fueled by the inexcusable actions of the past that continuously bleed into our reality leaving us in torment. Although we are resilient, those undesired by the system are often discredited and underestimated, doomed to be blacked. This space is undefined, confused and in opposition to the satisfying parts of life as we know it.
Contemplating these truths lead to a fixation of these patterns. Resulting in canvas riddled in lines and organic curves representing a system that rejects and ejects systematically. All the while, mimicking the clash of the ocean.Where the past and future collided and instantly creating a new reality. This reality is shared by a family of strangers, connected through time by one intimate detail. In this series the color black, pitch black, reminiscent of the ocean floor is utilized. It is the only color that can describe the perversion of destinies.
